Default World Series of Poker

I'm going to be playing in the World Series of Poker later this week. If anyone wants to know how I'm doing, I'm going to be giving updates for my friends/family:

As far as wagering goes.. I am pretty sure the odds you can find on the world series of poker main event are probably way in the house favor (like a lot of the futures type stuff). But, that said, I did make one bet .. on Sports Interaction I took Brian Townshend to win the main event at +100000 odds. He is +40000 now, so I guess I got a "good" price.

Event at +100000, that is 1,000:1. If there are around 7k entrants, he would have to be 7x more likely than an avg. player to win. The math of these bets isn't good. If you look at a favorite, like Phil Ivey, you only get 100:1 on him.. he would have to be 70x more likely than an avg. player to win.. and that just isn't possible.

They added final table wagers, and the prices there might be a little bit better.

They also have a bet for winning nationality. If anyone could find a breakdown on the % of each nationality that played in it last year, that could be valuable. It seems like Russians have been doing well lately, but I don't know what % of the field they will be. You can get 33:1, but if they are only 1/200th of the field or something, that would be bad.

Thanks.

And like I said... put all your money on Ivey to make the final table.

He is pretty amazing. I still think the odds were terrible, but he's in the final 9, so it would have been the right year to do it.

It's that time of year again. I'm going to try and take down a bracelet. I'll post updates at

And if you're interested in the true high-stakes degenerata of the wsop, check this out http://www.pokernews.com/news/2010/0...elets-8420.htm . Tom Dwan could have something like a $14,000,000 swing during the World Series, depending on whether he wins a bracelet.
